PET Preform Production: From Resin to Packing

A short look at the four main production stages and the quality checks behind each one.

Preform production is a precise process where temperature, moisture and time are everything.

Resin drying

PET resin must be dried below 50 ppm moisture to prevent loss of viscosity.

Injection and cooling

The melt is injected into a multi-cavity mold and cooled rapidly to keep the preform clear.

Quality control and packing

Weight, neck dimensions and clarity are sampled, then preforms are packed in hygienic cartons.
